This Transient Amnesias Smart Paper has been developed by Professor Narinder Kapur and Dr Veronica Bradley. Although it is rare for clinical neuropsychologists to see a patient during an acute episode of amnesia, they may often have to carry out an interview and assessment of a patient with a history of transient memory loss. We summarise clinical, neuropsychological and imaging features for each condition. The particular transient memory loss conditions which are covered include –
